Say What?

OK, so I know we haven't posted for a while, more like all summer, and we have a lot of catching up to do, but today my kids said the funniest things and we just had to write them down.

1. At dinner as Caitlyn was eating her piece of bread with half a cube of butter that she oh so carefully spread by herself: "Mmm, this butter sure is good."

2. We are trying to work on showing our gratitude at our house this week and as Brandon is helping his Dad unload the diswasher he very thoughtfully thanks him for the treat Matt brought home for all the kids from Hershey, Pennsylvania: "Hey dad, thanks for my reeses penis butter cups." (reeses peanut butter cups)

3. As Emma is getting in the tub after her horseback riding lesson: "Do I have to use soap."

I don't know if anyone else thinks these are funny, but I am just giggling as I am writing them. Granted I have been a little sleep deprived lately, but these all happened within hours of each other, so random. :)

And the winner is....

So everyone who guessed New York (I think only Aunt Gyla), gets the prize.  Haylie got her mission call to the Rochester New York Mission.  She reports to the MTC on August 6th.  After two farewells, one in Utah and one in Chicago, I think she is excited and ready to get going.  We are going to miss her, but are so proud and excited for her---every time Caitlyn says her prayers she prays that Haylie can go on her mission.  Check out the link to her blog for any fun updates, pictures and new addresses.

I Hope They Call Me on a Mission!

My cute sister just turned in her mission papers, so now she is just playing the waiting game.  My guess is Denmark, although she is hoping for stateside.

Binki?

After many attempts and absolutely every kind of binki made, Parker has refused the binki, (I am not quite sure if I should be glad about that or not).  But give him a sock or the corner of a blanket and he is in heaven.  I think we all know where he gets it from, right Grandpa Jeppsen?

Mother's Day

At Brandon and Caitlyn's preschool they honored the moms with a special day at preschool.  I got to go and spend the day with each of them.  On Caitlyn's day we made necklaces, planted flowers, and ate abc pretzels.  On Brandon's day we made bracelets, planted pumpkin seeds (which are just beginning to sprout), he gave me a hand massage with smelly lotion, and the famous abc pretzels.  Here are some pictures of Cait's mom's day, but silly me I forgot the camera on Brandon's day, sorry bud!

Tubby Time

Parker's first time sitting up in the tub.  He loved it.

Go D'Backs!

Brandon started T-ball in April.  Unfortunately I wasn't able to make his first game, but Matt came through and took some great pictures.  At first the players were just hitting from a T, but by the end they were hitting off a coach pitch.  Brandon said his favorite position to play is pitcher, and just today he made a great play to first base and got the runner out.  Although I have to say that I think we might be in trouble in the future because after I had been to 2 or 3 games, Brandon and I were talking one day and he said, "You know mom, you really can't talk to me during the game, I need to pay attention to the ball."  I am thinking when I tried to talk to him, but I didn't, I was just "cheering" for him when he got a hit and stuff, so I said, "Do you mean when I was cheering for you?" and he said, "yeah, you have to be quiet."  So I took that as he was embarrassed that I was being so "loud" so I have been trying to keep it to a minimum.

Just Hangin' Out

Caitlyn and Parker just hangin out on the couch (yes, I am sure some sort of cartoon is playing).  She always wants to be a big helper and hold Parker, but considering he is almost as big as she is, the arm around the shoulders works great.  :)

Lil' Cowboy

Here are a couple of Parker's 6 month pictures. He was so funny the day we got them taken. All he wanted to do was eat the boots and when I tried to take them away he was so sad, screaming crying, throwing a little temper tantrum. Then as soon as he got them back, no tears. Isn't it funny how they can turn the tears on and off so quick? As you can tell, by the end of our session he was so done.

Yummy

Here are a couple of pictures of all the sugery treats the Easter bunny brought.
Kites and Webkinz accesories were a big hit.

The Easter bunny brought Parker a basketfull of Dum-Dum suckers. We just had to capture his first taste of pure sugar....we think he liked it.

Rollin, Rollin, Rollin

Around Easter Parker just barely started to roll from his back to his tummy. We tried to catch it the best we could, but as usual by the time we got the camera out he was tired, so this is the best we got.

Happy Birthday, Matt!

It was Matt's birthday in April. We got to celebrate with his sister Jen, who was visiting from Utah. We went to dinner and then tried to go bowling, but unfortunately every bowling alley around us has women leagues in the evenings. So, we settled for cosmic (glow-in-the-dark) mini golf in the mall. I think his favorite present was/is the indoor R/C helicopter, but he really likes to play Guitar Hero too. Hopefully he had a great birthday and knows how much we appreciate him, Love ya babe!

Happy Easter!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. We finally got to take Parker out for the first time since he got sick in December. Everyone was so excited to see him and couldn't believe how big he had grown. We have been truly blessed and are grateful for our Savior and the sacrifice he has made for each of us.

Easter Fun

We got to dye Easter eggs at Grandma's with Amy, and Tara and Rob and their family. Notice what (most of )the men were doing during the festivities....typical. :) Then then we got to have an Easter egg hunt in the basement because it what snowing outside that day in Chicago. Carter found the "golden" egg with $20 bucks, but Caitlyn turned on the tears and Grandpa hit her with a twenty too. He is such a softie.

Spring Break

In March, my sister Tara and her family came over and along with my Mom and sister Amy, we drove up to the Wisconsin Dells. We stayed at a really fun resort called the Wilderness resort. It was so much fun. It has 5 indoor waterparks and a huge dry play area. You can get to them all without every having to go outside. Which makes it a perfect getaway for the winter. We had so much fun and it is my kid's new favorite vacation spot, plus it is always fun to get to spend time with our family.

All Aboard!

One of Caitlyn's fieldtrips for preschool was to take a train ride. Caitlyn was excited to go, although while we were on the train, she kept asking when we were going to get to her fieldtrip. I had to explain that the train ride was the fieldtrip---she wasn't impressed, but nothing a little icecream couldn't fix.

A Shout Out

This is a big thanks to my hubby who did a completely and absolutely great job managing the kids this weekend while I was having a very fun time in downtown Chicago. Between baseball and birthday parties he was very busy. Thanks to his mom too, who came over to help out as well, and as we all know, it is always fun when grandma comes, hooray!

Updates

I know that I need major updates, and I thought Sunday would be the day, but it took me so long to figure out how to save all of my widgets (the sidebar stuff), that I only had time to pick a new layout (it was time to say goodbye to St. Patrick's Day polka-dots). And this week is crazy cuz I am getting ready for a little "girls weekend" in Chicago with some of my Aunts and Grandma and cousins and mom and sisters. So it has been crazy busy trying to get everything ready. So, as soon as I get back I am ready for some bloggin!~

Sledding....Finally

I have been wanting to take our kids sledding for forever because we have a lot of great hills around here. So finally at the last minute I took the girls and one of their friends over to the park and they went sledding (Brando was having a playdate at his buddy's house from preschool). Emma and her friend, Emily, jumped right in, but Caitlyn wasn't so sure. So we found a smaller hill that was just her size and by the time we were finished I had to practically drag her off the hill. They have been begging to go again, but I am hoping that the snow will melt before we get to, cuz it wasn't just cold, it was freezing!

Go Wolves!

Emma got to attend a cheer camp with her friend sponsered by our local high school. They practised cheers all morning and then the parents were able to come and watch them perform what they had learned. Emma did great and she she had a fun time.

Big Helper

Emma was so proud she got to feed Parker all by herself. She is such a great big sister!

So Talented

You might not be able to tell in these pictures, but Parker is showing off his new talent. He has just discovered his tongue and loves to roll it and curl it all the time, except of course when I have the camera out trying to take a picture of it, so these are the best I could get.

Annual Valentines Day Party

We had our annual Jeppsen Family Valentine's Day party this year. We had a "fancy" dinner, complete with heart shaped pizza, candelight, and the "special" glasses. Next we got to play Harto--valentine's day bingo and a fun High School Musical question and answer getting to know you game (example question: What do you like better on Valentines Day, candy or flowers?). Last, but not least, the very fun (and VERY messy) chocolate fountain with berries, banannas, pretzels, marshmallows and rice krispie treats to dip. Our kids look forward to this every year, they don't really like to eat what they dip, but they love it all the same.

HSM OVERLOAD

If you understood the title you just might have HSM overload too. That's right, I am on official High School Musical overload. How can you tell, you might be wondering? Well, the first clue was when we were listening to the HSM 2 soundtrack in the car (for the millionth time), I noticed that I could sing EVERY word to Humahumanukanukaapuoa'a...exactly my point, try just saying it, let alone singing it. Another dead give away is when Caitlyn was watching the movie (for the millionth time) and I got all choked up during Troy and Gabriella's break up scene...I mean she gave back the "T" necklace and everything. Last, but certainly not least, begging Caitlyn for the Gabriella pawn in the Disney version of Monopoly Jr. Yeah, let's just say I am not looking forward to the HSM 3 realease.

I know you are all wondering where in the world I got this great picture of a perfect loaf of bread (ok, so it might be a teensy lopsided). We made it. That's right, we were feeling a little domestic on Saturday (actually it was Matt's idea) and we made homemade bread. But not just your typical bread from storebought flour, we ground our own wheat flour from actual wheat kernels. And we even got to mix it in the beloved Bosch. So, needless to say, I thought it deserved a picture. :)

"He's Just a Friend"

OK, for this post I have to give a little bit of background so bear with me. Emma's ne thing this year is Webkinz World. It is a virtual world of pets that you adopt and take care of online. You name them and play games to win money to buy them food, clothes, and homes, and other fun stuff. You can also play with other friends and their pets online (only those you know of course).
So, the other day Emma was on Webkinz world and I was in the process of asking Emma what she was doing on the Internet and then Matt got home and walked in on the conversation. I think you will get more of the idea if I write it in dialouge form:

Janaye to Emma: What are you playing on Webkinz world?
Emma: Nick just sent me a present for my horse.
Janaye to Emma (as Matt is walking in from work): That sounds fun, what was it?
Matt: What was what?
Emma: I got a present for my Webkinz horse.
Janaye: From Nick.
Emma a little bit too quickly (with blushing cheeks): He's just a friend.

We were trying so hard not to laugh. She was so embarrased. Needless to say, Nick has called her every day since. Hello...they are only in the second grade. When did you start getting calls from boys? I mean I think I was at least in the fourth grade. And how did he get her number? Hopefully she doesn't go arond giving her number to all the boys who give her webkinz presents. :)

American Idol???

The other night I was able to catch the last bit of the American Idol auditions in Philidelphia. Does anyone else think that the last contestant ( I forgot her name ), the married nanny, is mormon? I mean how many people have never seen a rated R movie and have never had a drink or anything? I might just have to vote this season....

Frazzled

Ok, so I went to do some Christmas exchanges the other night and I just had to laugh at myself and the frazzled mess I was in . I didn't have a receipt and so the cashier was suppose to give me a merchandise credit, but on accident he gave me cash, but asked if I could go spend it in the store. So I was trying to be nice and oblige and went to pick out something for the same price of the item I returned. So I found something and picked up a little candy treat for myself and headed to the counter. He rings me up and it turns out I am over the cash amount. Embarrassing! So I have him take off the treat and figure that would be good. Well, not so. So here I am digging around my purse for 15 cents and do ya think I could find any? No, and by this time there is line forming. So I have run out to my car dig around for change, because every other time there is a mountain of change. But, not so on this night, I was lucky that I found 5 pennies. I know you are thinking by now just use the dang debit card already, but I was so frazzled it didn't even cross my mind. Luckily I happened to have a dime in my coat. I know this is random but it was so embarrassing as it was actually happening---one of those just laugh at yourself moment.

Testing, Testing.....

So I was just checking to see if this idea worked. I made this collage on Picasa, it is just basic and they have some other basic layouts. What do ya think?

Yummy!

Parker's first round of rice cereal. I think we got more on his bib than actually in his mouth. :)

Christmas Morning

Waking up on Christmas morning: a moment of peace before the chaos hit.
Peeking through the stairs...waiting for mom and dad to get up.
Caitlyn with her favorite princess cash register.
Emma is going to give karaoke a try and meet Chocolate, her horse webkinz.
Brandon opeining hes presents and declarin that it was "Awesome."
